CSS/New ID Contest is now open:
[link]

I am now accepting applications for Senior members. To be a senior member you must be
active in club activities and give support, help and advice to other members and guests if needed. Senior members have extra points to vote with in contests and will be able to suggest vectors and/or vexels for VOTW. So, if you think you have what it takes, send a note to the club stating why, when you joined the club and any activities you have been active in.

There is only room for
6 senior members. If you were a previous senior member you must still send in an application if interested. GOOD LUCK!

The results of our tenth contest are in and the winner is...
~burguerqueen! Your entry will be placed in the club's account
and you will be "Artist of the Month" for a month and then second place will receive the honor for the next month. Second place goes to
~Adelaida and third place goes to
~balung. The random voter giveaway goes to
~Violhaine. CONGRATULATIONS!! You all will receive more information about your prizes soon.
For information on the current contest
and the current club submission theme for this month, please look below.

If you have not noticed yet, there is a Vexel section for submissions to deviantArt now. Please read the "Vector Defined" section below for clarification on what is a vexel and what is a vector.

I am proud to announce a better feature of *
vectorlovers...
COLLABS! The collab rules are very simple...
1) At least half of the involved artists have to be members of *
vectorlovers.
2) One of the artists must send us a note with the subject of "COLLAB" and it should include links to the artists involved and the links of the collab image in their galleries (if they have uploaded to their gallery). You can also include who did what if you want.
3) Keep in touch with your collab partners.
4) Do your best!
5) HAVE FUN!!
Visit the forums to open a personal collab thread or comment on others:

<The collab images will be added to the club gallery within three (3) days of receiving the note.>
"Vector art consists of creating paths and points in a program such as Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, [Inkscape] and Flash. These programs keep track of the relationships between these points and paths. Every time the image is scaled, the paths are regenerated: this creates images that are infinitely scalable without degradation." This has been extracted from the description of the vector gallery on deviantArt.
Art that contains both vector and raster art shoud
not be submitted to the vector gallery as it is not entirely a vector. Art of this nature should be submitted to the
Digital Art > Vexel gallery.
Raster art comes into play when using any brushes, filters, blending options (drop shadows, filters, glows, etc). Basically, any major post work you do in Photoshop other than creating paths using the pen tool and unsimplified shapes makes your vector a raster. Adding frames, watermarks, making color corrections and any other small postwork in Photoshop does not make your vector a raster. However, adding photographic elements to the image also makes it a raster image
regardless of whether it was made in a vector program. The images made in raster programs and those that contain photographic elements are called
vexels.
I hope that members and guests read this and recategorize their images accordingly. It would also help if you clarified your descriptions by stating the programs used and/or your process. Please note that this club will
not accept any vector or vexel images primarily created with brushes and filters. If you are unsure of which gallery to submit your art,
ask. You can note the club or the vector art gallery director ^
Einion.
Vector/Vexel Scratch Test:
if you are confused about whether or not an image you created is a vector or a vexel, try this:
1. Open your source file. Make sure you open it in the program you made it in and that it has the corresponding file format. (This test is perfect to see if the image you made in Photoshop is actually a vector.)
2. Shrink your image to 20%, then blow it up to 400%, then shrink it to 50% and then resize it so its original size.
3. If it looks like shit, its a vexel. If it looks exactly the same as it did before, its a vector.
4. If you made your image in a vector program, open it in that program and see how long you can zoom in before you get tired.
The eleventh contest has a color theme. For this contest, all participants should create vectors or vexels with the colors
red, blue and black. Different tones of red and blue are allowed, but the black must be solid black, no tones of gray are allowed. If you have any questions, please note the club and ask before you start your entry!
Thanks!!!!
